Comparative Analysis of Student Attitudes Towards AI Before and After Exposure

Aug 8, 2024, 7:23 PM

I have 2 datasets from the same population but different in the number of responses. The data was collected in 2 moments. The first questionnaire has some questions different from the last one. Analyze both and provide insights on how to use them. My interest was to use them in a paper entitled "Evaluation of University Students' Attitudes and Perceptions Towards Artificial Intelligence in Design: An Exploratory Study

growth and development in recent years, leading to increased interest in AI education and training.
Topic Importance: As AI continues to play an increasingly prominent role in various industries, university students must be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in an AI-driven professional landscape.
Existing Knowledge: Previous research has explored the impact of AI training on students' attitudes and perceptions, but there is still a need for further investigation to better understand the factors that influence students' attitudes
The Excel file contains two sheets named 'Before' and 'After'. These likely correspond to the two different moments of data collection you mentioned.
Next, I will load and display the first few rows of each sheet to understand the structure and content of the datasets.
The 'Before' sheet contains the following columns:
  1. Número de Matrícula
  5. A UFBA deve oferecer encorajar o uso de ferramentas de IA
... and several other columns (total of 22 columns).
Next, I will display the first few rows of the 'After' sheet.
The 'After' sheet contains the following columns:
  1. Número de Matrícula
  6. A UFBA deve oferecer encorajar o uso de ferramentas de IA
... and several other columns (total of 22 columns).
The columns in both sheets are similar but not identical. The next step is to identify the common columns and analyze the differences in responses between the two datasets.
The common columns between the 'Before' and 'After' datasets are:
  1. Número de Matrícula
Next, I will analyze the responses in these common columns to identify any changes in attitudes and perceptions towards AI between the two moments of data collection.
The common columns dataframes for both 'Before' and 'After' datasets have been displayed. Now, I will perform a comparative analysis of the responses in these common columns to identify any changes in attitudes and perceptions towards AI between the two moments of data collection.
The comparative bar plots above show the distribution of responses for each common column between the 'Before' and 'After' datasets. Here are some insights:
There is a noticeable increase in the number of students who strongly agree with this statement in the 'After' dataset compared to the 'Before' dataset.
  2. A IA utiliza variadas técnicas que variam em desempenho e segurança: The responses are more evenly distributed in the 'After' dataset, indicating a more nuanced understanding of AI techniques.
  3. A IA é segura e não compromete os dados: There is a slight increase in the number of students who agree that AI is safe in the 'After' dataset.
The perception of AI as a threat has decreased in the 'After' dataset.
  5. Confio nas aplicações de IA: Trust in AI applications has increased in the 'After' dataset.
There is a slight increase in the number of students who agree with this statement in the 'After' dataset.
These insights suggest that students' attitudes and perceptions towards AI have generally become more positive over time.
Would you like to perform any specific analysis or visualization on these datasets? Feel free to ask any further questions!

Can you identify any significant trends or patterns in the data?

The chi-square test was performed to identify significant trends or patterns in the data. The results indicate that there is a statistically significant change in the responses for the statement 'A tecnologia de IA pode ser uma ameaça para as pessoas' with a p-value of 0.0086.
This suggests that the perception of AI as a threat has significantly changed between the two moments of data collection.

analyses the answers in both datasets in the column "Quantas vezes por dia você utilizou aplicações que recorrem à Inteligência Artificial (IA)?"

It appears that the column 'Quantas vezes por dia você utilizou aplicações que recorrem à Inteligência Artificial (IA)?' does not exist in either the 'Before' or 'After' datasets.
Could you please confirm the exact column name or provide more details?

Can you perform a sentiment analysis on the open-ended responses?

The datasets contain several columns, but it is not immediately clear which ones contain open-ended responses. Based on the column names, it seems that most of the columns are Likert scale responses.
Could you please specify which columns contain the open-ended responses? This will help me perform the sentiment analysis accurately.

column 2 in both datasets

Can you visualize the distribution of responses for the question 'Quantas vezes por dia você utiliza aplicações que recorrem à Inteligência Artificial (IA)?'

The plot above shows the distribution of responses for the question 'Quantas vezes por dia você utiliza aplicações que recorrem à Inteligência Artificial (IA)?' from both the 'Before' and 'After' datasets.
You can see how the frequency of responses varies between the two datasets.
